Just in time for the start of the holiday season, we’re proud to release a new site for Ricky’s Flower Market in Somerville, Massachusetts…  Ricky runs a unique, European-style flower shop in Union Square, and was ready for an upgraded web look.

Here, we were able to use the WordPress theme capabilities to create a holiday theme that can be switched to a spring theme with a few mouse clicks later in the season. The spring flower and pottery galleries are in place year-round to give site visitors a sense of the full shop capabilities.

Last week, Google introduced some new search algorithms that place more weight on the “freshness” of website content. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we hear about Google changing their rules frequently, but this one actually has some relevance for us small business folk. Basically, if you can find a way to increase your website text presence regularly, your ranking goes up and you have a greater shot at being found online. I recently met with a business owner who was investing $7000/year on yellow pages advertising. Really.

It’s hard to blame the guy, however – they do a pretty hard sell! And who could blame those companies, either? The yellow pages print ad is a dying breed because most of us put those cumbersome books directly into the recycling bin. • Accurate Google business listing / place page
